I recommend Hidden So Deep to readers who enjoy action with a bit of secondary mystery. You might think she'd be happy to see him again. Sixteen-year-old Ryann Carroll has just run into the guy who saved her life ten years ago. Even though there’s a dictionary of terms after the closing chapters, it’s easy to infer their meanings from the context in which they are placed. There are Hawaiian and Pidgin words laced into the story, so the reader has the chance to feel the culture of the characters better while reading. The imagery was rich, and the author chose phrases that were relevant and clear. I was truly impressed with the elements Stone Spicer used as he described the setting. Teri and Stone become instrumental in locating Viane so her family can attempt to rescue her, but an earthquake deepens the odds against finding Viane alive. After a quick check, Stone realizes that his friend’s boat is missing, and as he and Teri help with the search for it, they learn that Viane is missing. Stone wakes up with his intuition nudging him, but it is clouded by too much wine. Kensington Stone, or Stone, as he prefers to be called, helped Viane Koa and her friend Teri, who later became Stone’s girlfriend, when Viane’s life had been threatened after two artifacts were stolen from her.
